INDONESIA is a land of contradictions. In villages, women still plant rice by hand while in cities, the Government promotes space-age technology. Tradition and modernity exist side-by-side.

For those with little or no knowledge of Indonesia, Australia’s largest and closest neighbour, it would be very hard to imagine the diversity of this fascinating country which is shaped by a long history and complicated socio-political background.
